Marquee tag was introduced by Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Netscape had blink element, which was usually compared to marquee. (Not that I remember those times, I didn't know what a PC was at that time :D).

And actually Marquee JS class was named after Microsoft's marquee tag, because of similar visual effect, although the way it operates and is applied to elements is completely different.

And yes I'm listening to podcast, try to never miss them and don't worry about the name, you got it almost right. With all developers from all over the world it's almost impossible to pronounce them correctly. Maybe need to add additional field in user profiles named - English transcription of users name? :D
